STEPS TO GENERAL PRACTICE BOARD CERTIFICATION

Currently, you are not required to pay any fee to the General Practice Board of America, Inc. to obtain Board Certification in the General Practice of Medicine. However, in order to obtain this Board Certification, there are fees you will need to pay to the General Physicians Academy of America, Inc. (which is a different and separate organization from the General Practice Board of America, Inc.).

Except for the fees that you will need to pay to the General Physicians Academy of America, Inc., General Practice Board Certification by the General Practice Board of America, Inc. is FREE.

The following are the THREE steps that will set forth how to become Board Certified in the General Practice of Medicine by the General Practice Board of America, Inc. (Board)

STEP ONE

Obtain and Maintain membership in the General Physicians Academy of America, Inc. (Academy). The website of the Academy is: General Physicians Academy of America, Inc.. An application to join the Academy can be obtained at the following link: Application to Join the Academy. Currently, the application fee to join the Academy is $100 and the first year's dues is $200 (for a total of $300 to join).

STEP TWO

Apply for Admission to take the General Practice Examination offered by the Academy. The Application for Admission to take the General Practice Examination can be obtained at the following link: Application for Admission to take Examination Currently, the application fee for this application is $950. An examinee, who is admitted to take the General Practice Examination, is not required to pay any additional fees to take the examination.

STEP THREE

Obtain Admission to take the General Practice Examination offered by the Academy and take and pass the examination.

The General Practice Examination can be taken one of two ways. An examinee may choose either one of these ways.

Way One - Over the Internet: Examinees have the option to take the General Practice Examination over the internet. This prevents the examinee from having to travel to a location. By taking the exam over the internet, examinees, in most cases, can take the exam at a location that is near where they work or live. This saves both time and money for the examinee.

Way Two - Onsite: Examinees, who choose not to take the exam over the internet, do have the option to travel to a physical location. Examinees, who choose to take the exam onsite, are provided with an address, date and time, at which to appear. This location is generally near an airport and free ground transportation to the location is generally provided.

For additional information about the General Practice Examination, contact the Academy at gpacademy@dr.com.

Board Certification provided by the Board is time-limited and is currently only for a term of six years. The term for any specific Board Certification is the term in effect at the time such Board Certification is obtained.

At this point in time, renewal of Board Certification can be obtained by completing again all of the above steps. However, this is subject to change. In order to renew any Board Certification, a physician would need to complete the renewal requirements in effect at the time of such renewal.
